POSITIVE THOUGHTS

There are so many positive things to look at in the world but unfortunately most people focus on or emphasize the negative instead of looking for the positive side of a situation [the media is a perfect example of this]. It's normal to talk about negative things when you are releasing them or healing yourself [constructive]. It's not normal to rehash the same thing over and over again and not change it [destructive]. Rehashing a negative circumstance [without making any attempts to change it] is unhealthy and only reinforces it in your own mind. State what's wrong and then get on with your life, clear it out of your system and move beyond it, don't try to hold onto it. Finish the situation off by looking at something positive about it: for example, "The pipes burst and a man's home is flooded and everything is ruined - the positive side? #1, thank goodness he had insurance. #2, no one was actually hurt by it. #3, now he can finally get rid of that ugly rug his wife refused to replace. #4, now he finally has the space to put in a lazy boy chair [just like he always wanted]." I'm sure you can think of a few more.

Another example, "A woman goes job hunting on Friday and is hired to fill the only vacant position in the company. She turns down the other job offers when she gets home. On Monday she calls before going up to sign the papers and is told that they are interviewing a couple more men for the job. Okay - but she was already told she was hired. She is put on hold for two weeks while the company tries to decide who they want to work for them. The final outcome - they hired the two men and said they changed their minds. The positive side? It took two men to replace a good woman - the job was only for one and had to be split into two because neither of the men was capable of doing it all by himself." [A true story.]

The point is: not to dwell on those things that have already happened and you cannot change, but to concentrate on the 'here & now' and plan for the future. Life is too short to dwell on and reinforce those negative happenings of our past, move beyond and make changes for those things which we want to bring into our lives which are positive. We have more control over the 'here & now' of our own lives than we will ever have over past events. Use these moments wisely.
