MEDITATION
[To Visit Your House of Guides]

Find yourself a quiet place to relax. Get in a comfortable position. Take a couple of deep breaths, slowly inhale and exhale each one. Prepare yourself as you normally would for meditation. Relax all parts of your body, beginning at your feet and moving up to your head. Once you have reached a sufficient state of relaxation, pick a place [real or imaginary] where you feel safe. Now visualize a set of ten 'stairs' in this place that fit the scenery [stones, etc.].

Beginning at the top of the stairs count backward from 10 to 1 as you step on each corresponding stair. Take your time, do this without haste and pause as long as you like on each stair. When you reach the bottom stair state that you wish to go to your 'House of Guides'.

You now see that you are on the top of a rolling green hill. Looking around you see a valley off to the left of you. Taking your time you decide to wander down the knoll and into the valley. On the way you notice several types of beautiful flowers on the landscape. Upon closer inspection of one particular flower you find a red key - you put this in your pocket. You continue down the hill. Upon reaching the valley floor you notice a path leading into a dense forest and you decide to follow the path to see where it goes.

You marvel at the depth of colour here with thick overgrowth from the trees. Rays of sunshine stream through the thickness enough for you to see where you are going and the other vegetation which grows here. You see lovely flowers of all the colours imaginable. You continue to follow the path [which winds this way and that] through the dense vegetation.

You notice a gate in front of you - it is old and made of some material which you recognize - and there is a lock on it. You fish in your pocket and produce the key which perfectly fits the lock - so you open it. You go through the gate and close and lock it behind you.

The vegetation is much thicker here but you continue down the winding, twisting path before you, marveling at the luscious plants and flowers which thrive here. As you walk along the path you may even notice some animals hiding in the thick underbrush, they are all friendly and some come out to greet you. You continue to take your time walking along the path, taking in nature.

You suddenly find yourself stepping out onto a beach with clean white sand and crystal clear blue water. The view is breath-taking and you stop and rest for a moment to take in the scene. After a moment you decide to take a dip in the inviting water. Stripping off all your clothes you dive into the water. You lay back and bask in the sunlight as you float on your back. The water is cool and refreshing to your skin. You relax here for a few more moments.

After a bit, you notice something in the thick underbrush near the shore and you walk up to it, pulling back the bushes as you go deeper into them. You suddenly find yourself on a dock. On the dock lies a robe of a colour that appeals to you, you pick up the robe and place it on your body. You tie the robe at the waist with a 'belt' of some kind. Next, you notice a boat of some type and you climb into it. Whatever the way the boat is moved [oars, motor or nothing] you push off from the dock and let the current take you out onto the lake. You hear the lapping of the waves as they roll against the bow of the boat. As you near the middle of the lake a thick white fog begins to roll in and surround you. There is nothing here but silence. You no longer even hear the sound of the waves. You are not afraid as you drift with the current in the fog for you know God is with you.

After drifting in thick fog for many minutes, you notice it starting to clear before you. As you emerge from the far side of the fog you are suddenly awed by the sight of a large castle looming before you on an island. The boat continues to drift towards it as you take in the sight of it. The boat drifts right up to the dock at the base of the castle and you climb out onto the dock. You decide to take the path up to the castle to see what is there.

As you climb the many 'stairs' up the path to the castle you notice different things about them that interest you. Upon reaching the castle door you notice its size, colour and shape - the look of it. It is locked with a hand print - you give it a push inward and the door opens easily for you.

Upon entering the inner hall you see something running toward you. It is familiar to you and it greets you like a long lost friend it is very happy to see. You lovingly embrace this being and you spend a few moments with it. This is the guardian of your house of guides.

You notice a large door across the hall and move towards it. You give the door a push inward and you are pleased and surprised to see a room which is beyond description here as you enter to explore it. The room can be anywhere, anyplace you can imagine. Looking around the room you see much that has meaning for you. As you continue to walk around the room you notice someone approaching you. This being is recognizable to you and you greet each other warmly as you embrace in yet another loving hug. You may or may not be aware of other beings in the room with you. You spend some time here, taking several moments to talk to your guide[s].

After a length of time you say good bye to your guide[s] [for now] and promise to come visit again. You thank the being[s] for the guidance and time. You go out of the room, closing the door behind you. You meet your protector and thank it for the protection it provides and its time. You cross the hall and go outside the castle, gently closing and locking the door behind you.

You descend the steps once again noticing things of interest to you. Upon reaching the dock at the foot of the steps you climb back into the boat.

Pushing off from the dock you once more let the current take you out onto the lake. Drifting slowly and surely, you once more enter the thick white fog with its impenetrable silence. After a few moments drifting through here you suddenly see sunshine as you emerge once more on the beach side of the fog. Slowly and surely you drift on the current to shore. The boat once again stops at the dock and you climb out. You drop the belt and robe you wore, leaving them here for future trips to the castle.

Once more you trudge through the thick bush, back into the water and around back onto the sandy beach. You rest for a moment, remembering whatever it is that you want to about your trip.

You dress once more in your clothing and follow the winding twisting path back through the dense undergrowth. Once more you are back at the gate. You again take out the red key and open the gate. You go through and close it behind you - taking care to lock it again with the key. Once having made sure you have closed and locked the gate, you continue back through the forest on the path through the valley.

Having reached the foot of the grassy knoll you begin to climb back up the hill through the grasses and flowers. You keep the key in your pocket. Upon reaching the top of the knoll you once again find your stairs. Taking your time and without haste, you ascend these stairs while counting from 1 to 10 as you climb.

Just before reaching the top stair you stop and tell yourself how refreshed and happy you feel. You feel more relaxed and content than before. You feel good. Thank God and your guide[s] for their help in taking you through this exercise. Continuing on up the stairs you come back into awareness of your surroundings in a physical sense. If need be you may just want to sit quietly here for a few moments before coming fully into consciousness and awareness of your surroundings.

I hope you enjoyed this meditation. It is one my guide [my spirit 'teacher'] taught me when I was seven years old and I have enjoyed it many times since with his guidance. [As an adult I've encountered many variations of it.] The meditation information is left open in several spots to allow you the opportunity of discovering something about yourself. The robe colour and belt type are unique to you, as is the boat, the steps, the castle, your protection, the guide's room, etc. These will be of significance only to you.
