FAQ's on REIKI

Q 1
"Is one type of Reiki better than another? I met another Reiki Master who told me that I had learned Radionics and not Reiki, is this true and what is the difference?
A 1
"I understand that each Reiki Master/Teacher claims their method to be the correct way of teaching Reiki, and that all others teach Radionics. For all intents and purposes EACH METHOD IS VALID - I've been told the only real difference between them is where you start on the body [one starts at the stomach, the other at the head]. As I understand energy, there is no right way or wrong way, there is simply energy - it is the intent behind the use of energy that is important. If a client benefits from a treatment then the practitioner is doing things, 'the right way'."
Q 2
Is one type of healing better than another?
A 2
"I don't believe one method is better than another but one method may be more beneficial to you because you are more receptive to it. Choose the type[s] that work for you."
Q 3
When a couple of healers have been in the same room I have detected animosity or competition between them - why?
A 3
"It's not a competition. We're all supposedly working in the light and we should be helping each other, not undermining each other. Obviously these people have not yet put their egos out of the way. It is not their energy, it is God's so how can one be better than another?"
Q 4
Can anyone do healing?
A 4
"Anyone can heal. It is a natural instinct in mother's when their child is hurt. How often did a mother's kiss make the hurt better? All people can heal but only a few actually wish to do so. One reason for this is that the path of a healer is often a turbulent one. Several healers [including myself] have found that we are able to help others more [especially when it comes to counseling] because we have already experienced it ourselves. [Been there, done that.] It can be a rough and bumpy road for some and with healing comes great responsibility. It is not a path taken lightly or easily. Those who do it strictly for profit are not in it for the right reason and they will not be as clear a vessel as others who do it to help mankind."
Q 5
Why doesn't everyone in the world become a healer?
A 5
"If everyone in the world did healing we would probably be much more content. Everyone can learn it but not everyone can work at it full time [too many chiefs and not enough braves]. We need people to work at jobs that make our world run and exist in the manner we're accustomed to and all the industry that goes with it. There has to be some variety or we would be living in a pretty dull world. However, everyone could practice it even if it was just on themselves."
Q 6
Can animals heal?
A 6
"Animals have a natural healing instinct that mothers have and often know when someone is hurt or ill. Animals will often stay by their owners when they are ill and quite often people report feeling better after they have had their pet lay near them for awhile. I don't believe it to be a coincidence."
Q 7
I would like a Reiki treatment but I haven't got the money. When I asked the practitioner if we could work something out she said no - she said she had to be paid in cash.
A 7
"When people say they have to receive money as payment they are mistaken. The client should come first and when you do healing you should have the clients best interests at heart. It says in Dr. Usui's Reiki manual that "there must be an exchange of energy" I'm sure he didn't restrict it to cash, in fact I saw no mention of money. The reason Dr. Usui mentioned an exchange of energy is so that people would not take the healer's time and energy for granted. If a client puts in something it shows an appreciation for the practitioner's efforts and that a value is placed on their services. An exchange of energy can also be a hug, a prayer, a meal, a thank you, cutting their grass, mending their clothes, etc, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be cash although I'm sure none of us would turn money away. One could also set up a sliding cash scale for those who want to pay something but cannot afford the full treatment price. Of course this is all up to the individual practitioner. There is no set rule but often terms can be arranged ahead of time if the practitioner is receptive to it. If not, you could always check around and see what other healers would accept."
Q 8
How do I find a healer with so many quacks out there?
A 8
"The best way to find a reliable healer is by "Word of Mouth". Get a referral from someone you know and trust. It is not necessary to go through a 'clique' that recognizes only those healers that it has trained. I understand their reasons but some really good healers are overlooked because they trained under others who also were not part of this 'elite' group. Check to see if the person has been trained, but as I said before, it's all energy and as long as it works and the client is happy, then the practitioner is doing it, 'the right way'."
Q 9
How do I choose a Reiki Master?
A 9
"The best way to choose a Reiki Master is by "Word of Mouth". Get a referral from someone you know and trust. After meeting the Reiki Master, make sure YOU trust them yourself and that you're comfortable with them. You are under no obligation and there should be no pressure for you to take classes from this person if you don't feel right about it. If this is the case, keep looking. The personalities of the Masters are as varied as the pebbles on the beach, eventually you will find one that suits you, your personality, and your particular needs. Happy hunting."
Q 10
Why is there such a wide difference in prices for Reiki classes - especially for the Masters?
A 10
"One reason for the price difference is because there is no regulation so each person can charge whatever they want. I have heard the Masters cost anywhere from $300 to $15,000. Another reason, I believe, is to limit the number of Reiki Masters. If it is difficult for most people to afford then only a few people can reach Masters, thereby keeping the numbers down. This also divides the masses for only those wealthy enough to afford the higher prices can be trained, thereby keeping the same high fees - 'the rich get richer & the poor get poorer'. When I was looking for my Masters I was told by one of them that the reason for the high price [she wanted $12,000] was that the more money I paid for my Masters, the more energy I would receive. [Fine if I bought into it.] I was told it was the hardship of coming up with that much money that made more energy. Well to my way of thinking, if $500 is as great strain to me then I will probably receive as much energy as the person who pays $15,000. In fact, I might even receive more energy - if a person can actually afford such an exorbitant fee then it probably is not a hardship at all, reasoning that they would actually receive very little energy. Food for thought, eh?"
