HAND POSITIONS for REIKI 1

Many healers work intuitively - allowing their hands to do the work as they allow the client's body to direct the healing energies. While it is realized that each practitioner will adopt their own style of healing, for the purposes of teaching, a set of pre-established guide lines will be used.

CLIENT LYING ON BACK
1.One hand on solar plexus (emotions), the other hand on upper chest/heart area (immune system). This position centers, relaxes and helps the client feel more comfortable.
2.Rib cage, lower chest area, stomach (seat of power).
3.Groin and hip area (power issues) (v).
4.Do each of the following one at a time: (a) both knees, (b) both ankles, (c) both balls of feet/toes - do soles, cup hands over heels, cup hands over ankles.
5.Head area - (a) eyes, (b) crown, (c) ears, (d) sides of head (thumbs resting on cheekbones), (e) hands cupped under head, (f) one hand under the head and one hand above the third eye, (g) jaw area.
6.Neck/chin area (speaking up for oneself).
7.Upper chest (v) - breasts optional (with permission).
8.Shoulder to edge of armpits.
9.Do each of the following one at a time: (a) shoulder joints, (b) elbow, (c) wrists and (d) hands.
10.Do a 't' on chest.
11.Gently ask client to turn over.

CLIENT LYING ON FRONT
1.One hand on knot at base of neck and the other hand to their hand.
2.Start at the top of the shoulders and 'walk' down both sides of the spine - pay special attention to 'the band of grief'.
3.Do the crease at bottom of buttocks and the heel on the same side.
4.Back of knees (moving forward with the least resistance). Calves are optional if used a lot.
5.Do a 't' on back.
6.Suggest the client rest a few minutes before rising.

NOTE:
I realize that each Reiki Master Teacher claims their method to be the correct way of teaching Reiki and that all others teach Radionics. For all intents and purposes, EACH METHOD IS probably VALID. As I understand energy, there is no right way or wrong way, there is simply energy - it is the intent behind the use of energy that is important. If a client benefits from a treatment then the practitioner is doing things, 'the right way'.
