POINTS TO REMEMBER

Grounding Instructions
1) Visualize yourself as a tree. Roots are coming out of your feet reaching deep into the earth which causes you to feel strong and stable.

2) Squat, feet flat on the floor, elbows resting on knees, thumbs resting on centers of the top edges of your eye sockets.

3) While sitting on a chair, visualize your tailbone extending down into the earth and wrapping itself around the earth's core.

IMPORTANT POINTS
Remember a responsible healer works from a place of love as it is their greatest tool. Love is 'the' healing power and connects the universe. Project love, for what you extend, or project - you believe. Love is what you are and love can heal anything.

Always keep your conversation positive when you are treating a client - however the client may talk about what ever s/he wishes as they may release the negative energies through talk. Never touch a client if you are feeling negative.

You are not doing the healing, you are merely a vessel through which the energy travels. Your purpose is to provide as clear a vessel as possible for the energy to come through.

You don't have to be over the 'exact' spot - Reiki energy will go to where ever it is needed most.

Keep your limbs (arms, legs, etc.) uncrossed as much as possible as it impedes the flow of energy - however do be comfortable.

Try to keep at least one hand on the client's body at all times while doing the treatment to maintain the contact of energies.

Move in or away from a client's body both slowly and sensitively. Always come into chakra areas GENTLY. Do not 'rough-house' with a client's chakras.

For a client's comfort do have pillows, blankets or bolsters handy.

Use a quiet, nurturing voice during the session, and always touch the client lightly when you want them to turn over.

Advise them to rest for a few minutes after the treatment to give the energies more time to adjust in their bodies.

Relax and be in the Reiki energy flow.

Keep your hands relaxed, possibly cupped with thumbs close in.

You will know when it is the right time to move on to the next hand position.

Do not diagnose or prescribe.

During a treatment do not lean over the client for two reasons: (a) you will 'crowd their space' and make them uncomfortable in doing so and they should be relaxed not apprehensive and (b) they release all negative energies straight up [remember you only conduct energy one way - out] and there has to be some direction for the energies to leave and that is usually straight up. When the client's body releases any form of pain is often felt as a heat by the practitioner.

Never rush a treatment for in doing so you are only doing the client an injustice. During a treatment, energies are brought up to be released and then are released - if you do not stay there sufficiently long the energies only become disrupted and stay there instead of being released. You can cause the energies to become so disrupted that the person may become physically ill so be sure not to rush.

** If you do Reiki on the heart area at all it is suggested to do so briefly - if a heart condition exists then it has been suggested that you not do more than 5 minutes on it - 10 minutes for a healthy heart.
