CHAKRAS
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. Chakras are vortices of energy that, by virtue of their spin, pull energy into themselves like a whirlpool. After the energy gets drawn into your body, it flows through the energy field to your organs. Whenever your energy field is disrupted your organs don't get the energy they need and they become weak, eventually allowing for infection and other physical problems. Different views are claimed about how many chakras are in the human body. There are anywhere from five to one hundred chakras, however it is generally agreed upon that there are mainly seven:- spine [tail bone], spleen [mid area], navel, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras. Whatever the number, all these wheels are perpetually rotating, receiving and directing energies. [In Reiki certain chakras are used to assist the client in their healing.]
THE AURA
The aura consists of seven levels [corresponding with the seven chakras], each successive level coming out from the body is said to vibrate at a higher frequency than the one before. If your auric levels are strong and healthy you experience life to the fullest; if any are weak, the corresponding life experiences will be weak. The seven levels and their corresponding chakras, colours, meanings, lengths and shapes are:-
7th auric level - crown chakra - white - represents divine mind, serenity - extends three to three and a half feet out from the body - is oval in shape.
6th auric level - third eye chakra - violet - divine love, spiritual ecstasy - extends about two and a half feet out - is oval in shape.
5th auric level - throat chakra - blue - divine will within - extends about one and a half feet out - is oval in shape.
4th auric level - heart chakra - green - relationships with others - extends about fourteen inches out - is oval in shape.
3rd auric level - navel chakra - yellow - mental or rational mind - extends about ten inches out - is oval in shape.
2nd auric level - spleen chakra - orange - feelings or emotions about yourself - extends about six inches out - fits first level aura like a second skin.
1st auric level - root chakra - red - physical sensations, painful or pleasurable - extends about two inches out - fits body like a second skin.
The aura is the vehicle for all psychosomatic reactions. From a healer's viewpoint, all disease is psychosomatic. A balanced functioning of our auric field is necessary to maintain our health. It is at this level of our being that our psychological processes take place. The energy field is much more important to health and the growth process than was previously suspected. Energy events within the auric field are primary and always precede a physical event. Any illness will show up in the auric field before it manifests itself in the physical body. Since the physical body arises out of the energy field, an imbalance or distortion in this field will eventually cause a disease in the physical body that it governs. Therefore, healing distortions in the field will bring about healing in the physical body. To heal the field one simply learns how to restructure, balance and charge it.
Therapeutic Touch works specifically on the aura which helps the body to heal. Reiki works on whatever part of the body requires healing [including the aura]. The results from both are basically the same, it's just the approach that is different.
