COLOURS AND THE CHAKRAS

Imagine a rainbow of colour divided into seven segments and these seven segments placed at the seven chakras. This is a rather linear relationship to colour, as all of the chakras vibrate and change as our thoughts, actions and moods change. However, for the purposes of teaching this relationship we are going to use the colours listed. [We can develop our abilities to vibrate with these different colours with our physical, mental and emotional bodies.]

The following table outlines [in a linear sense] the chakra and all of its correspondences: [what the chakra represents, the area, the colour, the music note assigned, the sound that resonates with it, the aroma, the gemstone, body center, experience in nature, animal, element, and music]. It is to be noted, however, that different teachers will vary slightly with their views. Such is life.

7^th chakra - pure being - the crown - violet - note 'A' - sound 'M' - frankincense & lavender - amethyst & rock crystal - pituitary - mountain top - kachina - magnetum - and 'complete silence'. Violet is the highest colour of purification, of spiritual connection, of transmutation.

6^th chakra - recognition of pure being - the brow - indigo - note 'G' - sound 'EE' - rosemary & thyme - lapis & sapphire - pineal gland - night sky - archetypes & spirits - radium - and 'East & West classical' & 'New Age' music. Indigo is about synthesis of wisdom on all levels of Knowing.

5^th chakra - free expression - the throat - blue - note 'F' - sound 'EH' or 'A' - blue chamomile - aquamarine & turquoise - thyroid - blue sky & gentle waves - human & heirophant - ether - and 'Meditative Dance' & 'New Age' music. Blue is about the power of communicating, of expression through the mid point of the feeling heart and the thoughts.

4^th chakra - giving and receiving love - the heart - green - note 'E' - sound 'AH' - rose & sage - emerald & rose quartz - thymus gland - pink sky & wilderness - mammals - earth - and 'Classical' & 'New Age' music. Green is about balance, expansion & healing, a connection with mother earth, love, a belonging.

3^rd chakra - power and emotions - the solar plexus or spleen - yellow - note 'D' - sound, long 'O' - juniper & vetiver - tiger's Eye & amber - adrenal & pancreas - sunlight & sunflowers - birds - air - and 'Fiery Rhythms'. Yellow is about mental clarity and organization of thoughts, perceptivity and regeneration.

2^nd chakra - creative and sensual energy - the genitals - orange - note 'C' - sound, short 'O' - sandalwood & jasmine - carnelian & moonstone - reproductive & lymph - moonlight - aquatic animals - water - and 'Flowing Dance' music. Orange creates, stimulates, and vitalizes - a balance in between the 'activity of the red' and 'the clarity of the yellow'.

1^st chakra - physical presence and sexuality - the root at the base of the tail bone - red - note 'C' - sound ''O' - patchouli & myrrh - ruby & red coral - suprarenal - sunset & dawn - snake - fire - and 'Strong Rhythmic Beat'. Red brings action and represents the emotion anger.
